Abraham, Mount score as Chelsea record incredible win over Aston Villa

- Chelsea vs Aston Villa saw the Blues return to winning ways

- Abraham and Mount were both on target for the home side

- The match saw Lampard mark a reunion with John Terry at Stamford Bridge as coaches

A goal apiece in either half by Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount is all Chelsea needed to break a stubborn Aston Villa in Premier League match played on Wednesday night, December 4.

Chelsea were desperate to return to winning ways after suffering defeats to Man City and West Ham in their most recent league matches.

The loss to West Ham left Frank Lampard unimpressed as his side were out-played by the Hammers at the weekend, going down 1-0 after a limp home display.

But a goal each from Abraham and Mount was enough to get the Blues' campaign back on track against a resurgent Aston Villa side who came into the match in excellent shape following impressive results over Newcastle and Man United.

Chelsea came closest to opening the scoring through Willian inside six minutes of action, but the Brazilian's shot on goal was parried away by Heaton.

Abraham, however, went on to break the deadlock in the 24th minute, with the youngster finding the back of the net after being set up by Reece James.

But with just four minutes to stoppage time, the visitors drew level through Trezeguet after benefiting from El Mohamady's great ball.

The second half of the clash saw Mount restore the Blues' lead, with the Englishman making it 2-1 in the 48th minute.

Frank Lampard's men managed to hold on to claim a vital win at home as they cemented their place in fourth on the league standings with 29 points.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma credited former boss Jose Mourinho for boosting his confidence during his reign at the Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman has enjoyed adequate playing time since the arrival of club legend Frank Lampard as the Blues boss this summer.
