Group lauds Army's professionalism over fight against Boko Haram

- The Nigerian Army has been commended for their level of professionalism in the fight against Boko Haram in the north east

- The commendation was given to the Army by a civil society organisation in Abuja on Wednesday, December 4

- The organisation said some war merchants are angry that the military is making considerable gains in the fight against terrorism in the north east

A civil society organisation has commended the leadership and troops of the Nigerian Army for their professionalism in carrying out their duties across Nigeria.

The Advocates of Social Justice for All (ASJA) also rubbished reports claiming that the Nigerian Army recruited repentant Boko Haram members into the military.

The group made this known in an international press conference on Wednesday, December 4, in Abuja.

ASJA described as “outright falsehood and highly misleading information pushed by enemies of the Nigerian state”.

The convener of the group, Samuel Adadu, said such speculation is a distraction to the on-going efforts of the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism and other militant activities in the country.

Adadu said that the war merchants are angry that the military is making considerable gains in the fight against terrorism in the north east.

He also noted that the recruitment process into the Army is so rigorous that insurgents cannot in any way fit into its operational structure.

The organisation further advised those bent on distracting the Nigerian troops in the theatre of operations to desist from such enterprise and instead channel their resources and energy towards other productive ventures.

"The rumour making the rounds that repentant Boko Haram members have been recruited into the Nigerian Army is an outright falsehood and highly misleading information been pushed by enemies of the Nigerian state," Adadu said.
