Everton looked a rejuvenated side as they put their past woes aside to beat fourth place Chelsea 3-1 in their first match since the sacking of Marco Silva.

Chelsea lacked their cutting edge and this was largely because of Everton’s high press game which forced mistakes on the London side.

The game was fairly open but the next goal belonged to Everton once again as striker Dominic Calvert Lewin struck a second right after half time.

Lampard’s boys’ character would be tested at 2-0 down though they responded swiftly as Matteo Kovacic hit a superb volley past Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.

Chelsea pressed for an equalizer as Mason Mount skewed a shot wide while fullback Ceasar Azpilicueta saw his effort saved.

Against the run of play, Calvert Lewin found his second goal and Everton’s third after a mix up in the Chelsea defence to put the game beyond doubt.

The win takes Everton away from the bottom three while for Chelsea, it will be back to the drawing board as they have now lost three of their past four Premier League games.
