FA Cup 4th Round: Chelsea escape Stamford Bridge replay following narrow win over Hull City





- Hull City vs Chelsea saw the Blues qualify for the 5th Round of the FA Cup following 2-1 win at the KCOM Stadium

- Mitchy Batshuayi opened the scoring in the sixth minute while Fikayo Tomori headed home from a set piece in the second half.

- Kamil Grosicki's free kick took a heavy deflection off Matteo Kovacic but it was not enough for the Tigers to earn a replay

Hull City vs Chelsea ended 2-1 in favour of Frank Lampard's men as they qualify into the 5th Round of the FA Cup.

The Blues quickly settled into the game after as Batshuayi capitalized on rebounded shot inside box to make it 1-0 in the sixth minute.

Chelsea were in control of the game all through the first half but could have added to their advantage but wasted several opportunities that came their way.

Tomori made it 2-0 from a set piece as the England international was on hand to head home a cross from his international teammate Ross Barkley in the 64th minute.

Pedro Rodriguez's shot went agonizingly wide off the post later on and another opportunity was squandered by the Spaniard.

Hull got themselves back into game in the 78th minute through a deflected free-kick from Kamil Grosicki to put the Tigers back into the match.

Marcos Alonso should have put the game beyond doubt in the 82 minute after a neat passing game from Chelsea but the Spaniard's shot went over the cross bar.

Hull had few chances of their in the latter stages of the match but cold not make their efforts count as Chelsea won the match by 2-1.

In other games, West ham were knocked out of the competition by Championship side West Brom by a lone goal.

Leicester City had a 1-0 win over Brentford while Southampton earned a replay with Tottenham following a last minute goal from Sofiane Boufal.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Newcastle are the latest Premier League club willing to be bought by the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, reports claim.
