Nigerian Army arrests Boko Haram’s informants, recruiter, rescue victims in northeast





- Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested some Boko Haram informants and spies

- The troops also apprehended a Boko Haram recruiter was apprehended

- Several terrorists were also killed in various operations recently conducted in the northeast while some victims were rescued

The Nigerian Army says its troops have continued to record success as they pounce on the terrorists in the northeast.

The Nigerian Army's media coordinator, Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement issued on Sunday, January 26, said that some of the terrorists’ top informants and spies were recently arrested.

The spokesperson in the statement posted on the Nigerian Army's Facebook page said the troops in Yobe state on Sunday, January 19 killed two terrorists.

A Boko Haram female recruiter, Zainab Usman, was also arrested, according to the Army's spokesperson.

The suspect is believed to be the wife of a top logistics supplier for the terrorists.

In another operation in Bama, Borno state, the troops killed many terrorists, recovered weapons and rescued victims.

Meanwhile, the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, described the recent attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents as the last kicks of a dying horse.

The Army boss disclosed this after the European parliament claimed there has not been progress in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

He consequently called on respected bodies not to make pronouncement that can affect the fight against insurgency.

Similarly, President Buhari has given an assurance that terrorism in the northeastern part of Nigeria will in no time become a thing of the past.

The president gave this assurance on Friday, January 24, as he received Janez Lenarcic, the European Union (EU)'s commissioner from crisis management in Abuja.

He said that just like in the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, the insurgency in the region will definitely be defeated, although it might time some time.

Also, Presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, has commented on the successes recorded in the administration of President Buhari in terms of security.

In his comparison between the government of President Buhari and that of former Nigerian leader, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Adesina rated security high in the former.

Adesina said that although things are not at their best in this regard, they were worse in Jonathan's administration.
