Former Barcelona and Chelsea star Eidur Gudjohnsen has slammed Manchester United over their choice to sign Nigerian star Odion Ighalo until the end of the season.
The Red Devils were forced to land the former Super Eagles striker due to their shortage of personnel in the attacking position.
Having sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, the club failed to bring a replacement for him as they mainly bank on Marcus Rashford to get the job done.
However, they became desperate when the England international suffered back injury in their 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third-round replay in mid-January.
United were linked with a move for Edinson Cavani and a few other strikers but ended up settling down for Ighalo on transfer deadline day.
And Manchester Evening News reports that 41-year-old believes the club agreed to sign the former Watford man because they no longer attract top players.
The 30-year-old is currently contracted to the Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua but will spend the remainder of this season on loan at Old Trafford.
