Guardiola finally makes important statement about future at Etihad after Man City's Champions League ban

- Pep Guardiola will reportedly remain loyal to his employers despite UEFA's ban on Man City

- The English champions will not participate in the Europe's elite competition for the next two years

- City will be taking on Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg at the Bernabeu

Pep Guardiola has reportedly agreed to remain as manager in Man City despite the two-season Champions League ban on the club, Mirror reports.

The Etihad outfit have been given a few days to appeal UEFA's judgement but it is understood that the outcome will see the Spanish boss see out his remaining one-year deal.

The Citizens are already in line to take their case to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) in a bid to get the decision reversed.

Reports have it that UEFA want the case will to be quickly executed so that the ban can take effect from next season.

The former Barcelona boss was being asked about his view regarding the Financial Fair Play (FFP) case on City back in 2018 and he said:

"We will not be banned, I trust my chairman & CEO and what they explained to me."

Guardiola now went on to take his stand if the decision will not swing in their favour.

"If it happens because UEFA decide that, I'll accept it and move forward."

Guardiola's first instinct has shown his loyalty to the club four years after being in charge since his move from Bayern Munich.

But this means the Catalan will coach a team not participating in the Champions League for the first time in his illustrious career.

However, the Citizens believe they have a strong case to get the ban lifted and they will fight any attempt by UEFA to impose the sanction if the CAS are unable to convene before the start of next season.

City are on the verge of losing their top players but Guardiola will not be among the big staffs.

He has lifted two consecutive Premier League trophies including last season's domestic treble.

Guardiola has a huge task at hand in the Champions League against one of the favorites Real Madrid in the round of 16.
