Bayelsa governorship: Oshiomhole under pressure to resign as protest rocks APC headquarters





- Some protesters are demanding the removal of the national chairman Adams Oshiomhole over the party’s loss of Bayelsa governorship seat

- The demonstrators under the aegis of Concerned APC Youths note that Oshimhole should be replaced to save the APC from losing more states

- The group says the APC has witnessed dwindling fortunes under the tenure of the current national chairman

Some protesters on Monday, February 17, converged at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Abuja to demand the removal of the national chairman of Adams Oshiomhole, over the party’s loss of Bayelsa governorship seat.

Channels TV reports that the protesters under the aegis of Concerned APC Youths stated that Oshiomhole should be replaced to save the APC from losing more states to the opposition.

The demonstrators who carried various placards with inscriptions calling for Oshiomhole’s sack argued that the APC had witnessed dwindling fortunes under the national chairman.

In another report, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has asked the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole to resign from his position.

The Rivers state governor said Oshiomhole should resign for failing to stop the inauguration of Bayelsa state governor as he allegedly boasted, Daily Trus reports.

Wike in a statement issued through his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, on Saturday, February 15, said the APC chairman is someone people should not associate with.

Still on politics, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has declared that if the APC must survive, then Adams Oshiomhole must not remain its national chairman.

The party also asked Buhari to beware of Oshiomhole because of his alleged activities, which the body said, is capable of derailing the party.

The umbrella of political bodies, in the warning to President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling APC, said through a statement by its secretary-general, Chief Willy Ezugwu, that Oshiomhole's recent statement that nobody would be allowed to govern Bayelsa after the Supreme Court ruling, makes him inconsistent and dangerous.

He accused Oshiomhole of trying to use his influence in the ruling party to steal the mandate of the people of Bayelsa state.

The CNPP noted that Oshiomhole is known to have taken many impulsive decisions, especially in order to save face in his obvious attempt to act more confidently and in control than he really is.

The body warned that there is nothing that can easily hurt the party than its kind of leadership.
