- The Danish striker revealed he his happy to be playing alongside Messi after making his debut against Eibar

- Braithwaite was signed from Leganes following injuries to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele

Not many players have had the opportunity of playing alongside Lionel Messi but new signing Martin Braithwaite is still relishing his debut alongside the Argentine icon.

The Danish international made an impression when Barcelona spanked Eibar in a match dominated by Messi's brilliance.

Artur Melo got to the end of a rebound from Braithwaite's shot which was saved by Eibar's goalkeeper before it was dispatched by the Brazilian midfielder.

But the 28-year-old who was signed on a short notice earlier last week admitted that it was a great honor playing for Braca and becoming teammates with Messi.

Ighalo mocked for what he told the press after Man United's draw against Club Brugge in UEL (video)

"I will not wash my clothes after receiving Messi's hugs," he stated.

"I admit that I didn't think I would be playing for Barcelona a week ago.

"He congratulated me afterwards. He looks like a great man and he wanted to make me feel at ease. He looked for me with the ball after I came on.

"As a child, I watched players make their debut for this club on TV. I thought about how special these moments are. To suddenly be here with this reception from the fans, it has been spectacular."

Braithwaite previously played for French side Toulouse before moving to English Championship side Middlesbrough.

But the forward was loaned back to France to play with Bordeaux, then Leganes in Spain as he secured a permanent deal with the La Liga outfit.
