The former Red Devils star proudly wore a dark-blue winter jacket with the club's badge while visiting his former national teammate on Chelsea's training ground.
With both putting their hands in the pockets of the coat while discussing what looks like the strategies for this evening's game.
Ferdinand will be one of the pundits for the round of 16 match on BT Sport when the two former champions clash for the fifth time in the history of the competition.
According to Daily Star, the picture suggests that the former Queens Park Rangers star had switched allegiance to supporting the Blues as against Man United - the club he represented.
The publication further stated that Ferdinand also had a chat with ex-goalkeeper Petr Cech - recounting how they came back to beat Bayern in the final of 2012 edition of the competition.
Lampard and his teammates back then won the match on penalties after the normal regulation period ended 1-1.
Ferdinand decided to wait a little bit after the interview to watch the club's training session before filing out against the Bundesliga champions.
The 41-year-old was quoted to have told Chelsea boss it was the first time he donned a blue colour material.
"It’s the first time I’ve worn a blue bit of material. “I didn’t normally get this welcome at Stamford Bridge.”
BT Sport has since after the interview earlier on Tuesday shared the clip on their official YouTube channel with so many Blues fans reacting to Rio in the outfit.
