She said the president's promise to rescue Leah, which was also reiterated by his ministers when they visited the family, has not been fulfilled.

Ms Sharibu said the failure of the Nigerian government to secure her child's release made her resort to visiting London to seek the British government’s assistance.

She was quoted to have said in Hausa: “My major worry now, is for the government to do whatever possible and free my daughter from captivity. Because, I am seriously disturbed, but there is nothing I can do. If the government is doing nothing, what can I an ordinary citizen do?”

Ms Sharibu said she was assisted to visit London by Leah Foundation, a non-governmental organization established in honour of her daughter

She commended the organisation which she said has been of help to her family.
