Much tears as Nigerian man was reportedly beaten to death in India, FG reacts (videos)





- Videos have emerged of a Nigerian, Sunny Mike, reportedly beaten to death in India after he was accused of theft

- Within Nigeria, a local media, reports that jungle justice was already carried out before police could get to the scene

- The federal government through NIDCOM has, however, appealed to the Nigerian community in the foreign country to be calm as it is investigating the matter

Videos have emerged showing a Nigerian, named Sunny Mike, seriously beaten up in Delhi, the capital of India.

In response to the maltreatment, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) said that it is aware of the situation and investigations are ongoing. The commission also called on Nigerians in India to be calm.

The clip shared by NIDCOM shows a Nigerian looking tiredly beaten as an Indian man held him up by his shirt. Other Indians surround the scene without stepping in.

In a fuller video and report by Within Nigeria, the man in the above video later turned up dead from the horrible incident.

According to the local media, Mike was accused of theft by an Indian lady as passers-by swooped on him. Before the police could come to the scene, the man was already dead.

Voices of Nigerians could be heard asking Indian health officials to open the face of the covered body in their ambulance.

After they confirmed that it is the face of the Nigerian, they wailed and screamed out his name.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that it is not the best of times for hundreds of Africans living and doing business in China as they said that they have been thrown out of hotels and their apartments.

The alleged action was carried out in China's southern city of Guangzhou by local health officials, who, it was said, rolled out a testing campaign for Covid-19.

Community leaders confirmed the development with those evicted claiming it was an act of discrimination.

“They are accusing us of having the virus. We paid rent to them and after collecting rent they chased us out of the house. Since last night we have been sleeping outside," Tobenna Victor, a Nigerian student in Guangzhou said.

Lunde Okulunge Isidore, a businessman from the Democratic Republic of Congo, also said: "They came to my house. They told me to wait after 24 hours for the result, [but] after 24 hours nobody contacted me."
