Like a Biblical prodigal son, Terhide Utaan, a former aide to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, has tendered an apology over his criticism of the governor in the build-up to the 2019 elections.

Utaan conveyed his apology to Ortom in a letter directed to the governor and made available to the press on Sunday, May 31.

According to the former aide, who contested for Makurdi/Guma federal constituency in the last general election, his utterances towards the governors are regrettable.

He promised to continue to be a younger brother to Governor Ortom and conduct himself in a way that will aide the smooth run of Ortom-led administration in Benue state, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng gathers that towards the build-up to the election, Utaan had called for a press conference where he accused the governor of creating crisis in Guma local government area where both hailed from.

But in a subsequent reconciliatory move, Utaan who is a former State Focal Person for the Social Investment Program (SIP), pleaded to the governor to bury the hatchets and move on.

"I regret addressing that particular press conference that has angered you so deeply and I again ask your forgiveness. I regret my comments both in context and content and I must admit that they were ill-informed and grossly misrepresentative.

“To err is human my brother and my Governor but to forgive is indeed divine. Please forgive and forget the ugly past and give me a chance to prove my newness of heart.

“I am deeply sorry for all my indiscretions especially towards you and my dear mother the First Lady and again, I promise to do better," Utaan said in a letter to the Benue governor.

Acknowledging the receipt of the letter, Governor Ortom said he has forgiven his "brother" as a Christian who should not keep grudges.
