Ronaldo agreed to join 7-time Champions League winners before making Juventus switch

- Cristiano Ronaldo made a U-turn about joining AC Milan in the last minute ex-sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli

- The Portuguese striker rather opted for Juventus after leaving Real Madrid in 2018 for a whopping £100million

- Mirabelli also claimed Milan lost the opportunity of signing current Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte in 2019

Cristiano Ronaldo could have been an AC Milan player before a sensational move to their Serie A rival Juventus in 2018, former Sporting Director Massimiliano Mirabelli claims.

The Portuguese icon ended his nine-year with Real Madrid and decided to move on to another challenge in his career after winning his fourth Champions League title with Los Blancos.

And with speculation going the rounds about the former Man United star, AC Milan were believed have been favourites to land the five-time Balon d'Or winner.

But the Rossoneri's Chinese owner Li Yonghong had to pull out of the deal due to their dwindling financial issues, which made Ronaldo opt for Juventus signing a £100miliion deal.

Mirabelli claims Ronaldo would have been playing at the San Siro if the owners of the club were different despite their financial challenges at that time.

"It was something we talked about with Jorge Mendes.

"We knew there could be problems with Real and Ronaldo. We did everything, but then the Chinese owners blocked the deal because it was not sustainable.

"With the current owners CR7 would have been a Milan player," Mirabelli told TV channel Sportitalia.

However, Milan had new American owners Elliot manager that summer ending the Chinese's short spell at the club's hierarchy.
