The main opposition in Oyo state has thrown fight hat into the ring with Seyi Makinde-led government as the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused the governor of hijacking projects executed by his predecessor.
Makinde took over the baton of governance from Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi but the transition has seen more accusations and altercation come up in the state.
Governor Makinde recently marked his one year in office, yet his achievement list was questioned by the APC members who accused him of getting glory for projects he never initiated.
In a statement by the state opposition party APC, through its spokesperson Azeez Olatunde, Makinde was accused of converting Ajimobi Maternity and Paediatric Centre in Olodo to Covid-19 isolation centre instead of building his own.
APC said the governor made the decision without seeking the consent of his predecessor who initiated the projects, The Nation reports.
The opposition also accused the Oyo government of moving the mobile police squadron from Oyo town to Ago-Are, a remote area in Oke-Oun region.
APC, in a letter, accused the governor of converting Olodo Maternity and Paediatric to Covid-19 isolation centre without Abiola Ajimobi's consent.
APC added that the project was situated in Oyo upon the request of Alaafin of Oyo town.
The opposition party challenged Governor Makinde to come out with a fresh stand backing his decision and called for the prompt relocation of the mobile police squadron to Oyo town.
