Aliyu noted that international travellers should adhere to all the COVID-19 guidelines put in place.

For international travel, we have made recommendations to the aviation industry to commence the process for opening international airports provided all existing international and local prevention guidelines and COVID-19 are in place,” he said.

As part of the guidelines put in place for international travel, he said passengers are required to arrive three hours before departure time.

Meanwhile, the ministry of health has cautioned against the "second wave of Covid-19 pandemic" which it said will be disastrous to the economy of the country and lives.

Nigeria's Covid-19 hit 44,129 confirmed cases on Monday with 20,663 recoveries and 896 deaths after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 288 new cases in 15 states.

This means the collective efforts of the governments across all levels are yielding results and the PTF has called for caution against a second surge.

In another report, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said COVID-19 tests conducted within its molecular laboratories across the country are free.

This was stated in a tweet via the agency's official Twitter handle on Sunday, August 2.

The NCDC noted that scale-up of testing is key in assessing the nation’s COVID-19 situation and coordinating response across the country.
