A security expert, Terrence Kuanum, has said that an end to insurgency in the northeast region of Nigeria is near.

Kuanum while commending the recently launched Strategic War Room by the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, and his counterpart in the air force, Abubakar Sadique, said the initiative .will end of all acts of terrorism in Nigeria

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, August 8, Kuanum said recent development within the armed forces of Nigeria is of strategic importance to the ongoing war against insurgency and banditry.

He said the war room collaboration among the service chiefs if sustained would wipe out terrorists in the region.

"It's not that the armed forces have not been collaborating before, no; what is happening now which is of strategic importance to the ongoing war against terrorism and the other crimes," Kuanum said.

He added that the army-air force engagement has been enhanced at the highest level for almost seamless interaction with the aim of yielding results and eliminating excuses.

The security expert said while Buratai has brought innovations to combat operations used to dislodge the insurgents in the past, the chief of air staff has brought finesse to air operations which have resulted in precise airstrikes without casualty.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Ameh Ebute, a former Senate president in Nigeria had urged governors of the 36 states of the country collaborate with the military.

Ebute said the lack of collaboration between major stakeholder in the country, especially in Borno state has fuelled the activities of terrorists.

The former lawmaker said the resurgence of the terrorist group cannot be attributed to military sabotage as many individuals and groups have postulated.
