The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that there is apprehension in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the possible disqualification of Osagie Ize-Iyamu due to unresolved legal issues surrounding his nomination as the party’s governorship candidate in Edo state.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the spokesperson for the PDP in a statement on Thursday, September 17, claimed that governors on the platform of the APC have abandoned Ize-Iyamu’s campaign over his nomination issues.

Ologbondiyan alleged that the APC governors do not want to be associated with the Ize-Iyamu campaign for fear of being sanctioned for undermining the nation's electoral process.

According to the PDP, the trouble in Ize-Iyamu's campaign was because he had been rejected by members and leaders of his party.
The party advised the APC governorship candidate to save his face by withdrawing from the election.
Meanwhile, barely forty-eight hours before the conduct of the Edo governorship election, the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has predicted the outcome of the poll.
The Cable reports that the governor said if the police were able to prevent political thugs from playing a role during the governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be “beaten silly.”

In another report, the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has praised the call made by President Muhammadu Buhari for a peaceful and credible governorship election.
Obaskei's special adviser on media and communications strategy, Crusoe Osagie, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Thursday, September 17, in Benin.
According to him, President Buhari’s call is a re-assuring tunic that will boost voter turnout on Saturday, September 19.
