The selection of new emir for the Zazzau Emirate in Kaduna state on Friday, September 25, showed a clear bearing as three candidates have been shortlisted by the emirate's kingmakers.
According to the latest development in Kaduna, the names of the three candidates have submitted to Governor Nasir El-Rufai to determine who the next Zazzau emir would be.
It would be recalled that Shehu Idris, the late emir of Zazzau, died on Sunday, September 20, at the age of 84 after spending 45 years on the throne having ascended to the throne in 1975 at the age of 36.
His death has been described as a national loss and an end to an era by prominent Nigerians including former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader.

Legit.ng understands that seven names were initially announced by the Zazzau kingmakers before the list was trimmed down to three.
In the three-page report submitted to Governor El-Rufai, Iyan Zazzau, Bashar Aminu; the Yariman Zazzau, Munir Ja’afaru; and the Turakin Zazzau, Aminu Idris were recommended to the governor after scaling through the second selection process, Premium Times reports.
Meanwhile, this publication gathers in an unverified report that Zazzau Emirate has picked Iyan Zazzau, Bashir Aminu as Idris's successor.
According to Saharareporters, the kingmakers voted on Thursday, September 24, in front of the secretary of the state government, head of the service, commissioner of police, among many others.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari sent a condolence message to the people of Borno state over the death of the Emir of Biu.
The president’s condolence message was contained in a statement issued through his media aide, Femi Adesina on Tuesday, September 15. Buhari said the late monarch led the people of Biu with diligence and dedication for 31 years by demonstrating visionary leadership.
