The selection of new emir for the Zazzau Emirate in Kaduna state on Friday, September 25, showed a clear bearing as three candidates have been shortlisted by the emirate's kingmakers.

According to the latest development in Kaduna, the names of the three candidates have submitted to Governor Nasir El-Rufai to determine who the next Zazzau emir would be.

It would be recalled that Shehu Idris, the late emir of Zazzau, died on Sunday, September 20, at the age of 84 after spending 45 years on the throne having ascended to the throne in 1975 at the age of 36.

His death has been described as a national loss and an end to an era by prominent Nigerians including former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader.
