Danny Welbeck joined Premier League side Brighton on a free transfer after spending the rest of last season with Watford.

The England international signed a one-year deal with the American AMEX outfit after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Graham Potter who has had a good start to the new Premier League season was happy to announce the arrival of the former Man United and Arsenal star.

"He will add to our attacking threat and we are thrilled to add another player of his experience and quality. He's got an undoubted pedigree, and he is quick and technically very good.

The Englishman will add to the attacking options of Potters side who already have France's Neal Maupay and Ireland's Aaron Connolly.

Welbeck made 20 appearances and scored three goals for Watford last season before they were relegated in the Championships on the last day.

The English-born Ghananian striker who played 42 times for England including an appearance in the last World Cup won the FA Cup during his spell with Arsenal.

He had loan spells with Preston North End and Sunderland during his time with Man United where he scored 29 goals in 142 matches for the Red Devils.

Welbeck could make his debut in a Premier League match against West Brom on October 26.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Mesut Ozil may not feature for Arsenal in the current Premier League season as the club look set to submit the final 25-man squad for the 2020-21 campaign, Daily Mail.

The German midfielder last played for Mikel Arteta's side back in February and has not kicked the ball ever since.

The 31-year-old and Sokratis did also not make the Gunners' Europa League squad with Arteta explaining that he had to comply with UEFA rules.
