Mixed reactions have greeted the national broadcast made by President Muhammadu Buhari on the ongoing EndSARS protests across the country.

Legit.ng reports that some lives have been lost and property worth billions of Naira have been destroyed since Monday, October 19, when the protest was said to have been hijacked by some hoodlums.

In his live broadcast, the president banned all the protests across the country and asked the protesting youths to engage the governments on how the problem would be totally solved.

Nigerians, however, took to their social media pages some minutes after the presidential broadcast to x-ray the speech and expressed their concerns over the address.

Some of the people who commented on Twitter lamented that the president did not address the Lekki shootings and other extra-judicial killings that happened since when the movement started.

A Twitter user, DM MARLEY III @michealdavid754, said the president did not mention anything about the Lekki massacre or explained how the perpetrators would be brought to book.

He said:

President Buhari didn’t mention anything about the Lekki massacre, he didn’t talk about bringing justice to the perpetrators, he didn’t express any condolences to the families of those victims we lost during the protests. No empathy, no single remorse."

In her reaction, Oma @_ifeomaaa, noted that Buhari didn’t address the covid-19 palliatives being hoarded by politicians.

She said:

"He didn’t address the Lekki toll gate massacres, he didn’t address the covid-19 palliatives being hoarded, he didn’t order security forces to stop the killing, he didn’t mention anything about the army attacking people, the violence. is that how you address a nation."

Another Twitter user, Kello04 @kello04, urged the Nigerian youths to form a political party and contest for elective positions in 2023.

He noted:

"I think the solution to this rubbish is simple.... We the youth should have our own political Party and retire all this Old men to farm. We have to fix this country no two ways about it."
