OPC threatens to roll out its men to restore order if looting, destruction continue

- OPC has called on hoodlums to stop destroying lives and property in southwest

- The organisation threatened to send its men out if violence persists

- Meanwhile, it urged Buhari and Sanwo-Olu to investigate the shooting of harmless protesters in Lekki

Following the #EndSARS protests, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) on Friday, October 23, called for an immediate stop to the destruction of lives and property in the Southwest.

The group who belongs to the faction loyal to its late Founder, Dr Frederick Fasheun, made the call in a statement signed by Chief Wasiu Afolabi, its deputy president.

Afolabi warned that if the violence persisted, the organisation might be forced to roll out its men with a view to guarantee security.

Going further, the group lamented the Lekki Tollgate shootings and the subsequent wanton destruction of lives and property, urging the rioters to withdraw from the streets and end the violence.

The group urged Governor Sanwo-Olu and President Muhammadu Buhari investigate, identify and sanction those behind the shooting of unarmed protesters at Lekki.

Afolabi said:

“OPC as an organisation will not fold its arms and watch the region turned into the scapegoat of #EndSARS protests.
“However, the organisation noted that every agitation must end on the negotiation table and time has come for campaigners to step back and see whether or not the government would fulfil its promise to end SARS and bring about massive reforms in the police.”
