Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has once again recorded his name in the history books of football after scoring for the Catalans in their win over Juventus on Wednesday night, October 28.

Juventus who are the reigning Italian champions were without their star man Cristiano Ronaldo who is yet to recover from Coronavirus.

Paulo Dybala and Morata led the attack for Juventus in their Champions League game against Barcelona, but they were unable to prevent their team from suffering a defeat.

France international Ousmane Dembele scored the first goal for Barcelona in the 14th minute as the first half ended with the visitors leading in Turin.

The Old Lady tried all their best to restore parity in the second half, but they were unable to get the goal before Lionel Messi scored the winner at the death.

According to UEFA, Lionel Messi has now scored 70 goals in 74 Champions League games in the group stages in which there is no player in history who has netted more than the Argentine.

This means that even Cristiano Ronaldo who has been Lionel Messi's greatest rival for years has not marched this record.

Messi has also won six Ballon d'Or awards in his career so far while Cristiano Ronaldo has five in his cupboard.

FIFA World Cup is the only title these two players have not won so far and they will have another chance at the 2022 edition.

It was a fight-to-finish on Wednesday night, October 28, as both sides matched each other in almost all departments on the pitch.

Antoine Griezmann hit the woodwork as early as the 2nd minute via a corner kick after captain Lionel Messi found space inside the box but Bonucci got across to make a cracking challenge.

However, Barcelona opened the scoring in the 14th minute thanks to a huge stroke of good fortune as Dembele struck from the corner of the box and it took a huge deflection and looped up over the keeper and in to put his side ahead 1-0.
