Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo, representing Adamawa north senatorial zone in the 9th Assembly has indicated that he is seeking to run for governor ahead of the 2023 elections, Daily Trust reports.
Abbo speaking to newsmen after Senate plenary on Wednesday, November 25, explained that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for the state's highest position.
The lawmaker further expressed optimism that he will defeat Ahmadu Fintiri in the gubernatorial race despite the fact that he fought for the governor's victory back in 2019.

He went on to allege that he was chased out of the opposition party by Fintiri over his reported mismanagement of the party.
“I’m not overwhelmed by Governor Fintiri. I fought to bring him to power. The governor did not defeat me. The governor chased me out (of PDP). I actually gave way so I will go and take his seat from him.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Senator Abbo announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a letter addressed to the Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
Lawan read the letter during the Senate's plenary session on Wednesday, November 25.

In a related development, Governor Dave Umahi has claimed that many politicians in Ebonyi state, including federal lawmakers, will soon dump the PDP for the APC.
The governor made the comment on Thursday, November 19 as he formally joined the ruling APC at a reception organised for him in Abakaliti, the Ebonyi state capital.
Umahi was received into the APC by its national caretaker chairman and Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni.
