Lagos bye-elections: No voters? INEC officials doze off at polling unit (photo)

Voting commenced peacefully on Saturday, December 5, as the Independent National Electoral Commission conducted the Lagos East senatorial and Kosofe constituency 2 bye-elections.
There was a low turnout of voters in most of the local government areas.
A photo has surfaced online, showing some INEC Ad-hoc officials sleeping at polling unit 014, Isele in Ikorodu area of Lagos as they waited for voters to turn up.
PM News reports that the officials decided to take nap due to the presence of only a few voters at the polling unit.

The Lagos East senatorial bye-election election is taking place in five local government areas of Shomolu, Kosofe, Ikorodu, Ibeju-lekki and Epe.
Meanwhile, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), voted at her polling unit in Ikorodu. She shared a photo at the polling unit casting her vote and wished Tokunbo Abiru, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, success.
In an earlier report by Legit.ng, the special adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on civil service and labour matters, Abdon Dalla Gin, was said to have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged vote-buying.

The anti-graft agency allegedly found the sum of N1.5 million in Dallas’ car after he cast his votes in the ongoing bye-election in Bauchi state.

Meanwhile, in Bayelsa state, three unnamed policemen reportedly drowned on their way to Southern Ijaw LGA for the election.
The incident was confirmed by police spokesman in Bayelsa state, SP Asinim Butswat. He, however, said the actual number of casualty is not ascertained yet.
