The Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday, September 5, began the distribution of 100,000 membership cards to members, declaring to defeat the APC in the 2019 governorship election in the state.
The state PDP chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, made this known while addressing party chairmen of the 23 local government areas in Sokoto.
This Day reports that Milgoma said a four-man committee has been inaugurated in each of the 23 local government areas of the state to ensure the smooth registration of all members.

He said: “This is our first stakeholders meeting since Governor Aminu Tambuwal left APC to join PDP. We are all united and there is no discrimination and division whatsoever between old and new PDP members.
“We have set up a committee in each local government to ensure smooth distribution of the membership cards. Thus, we are ready to provide more membership cards as soon as these ones have finished.”

Milgoma said: “We are resolute in our determination to defeat the APC in the 2019 governorship elections in the state and have no doubt we will achieve our aims.
“There is mass poverty in the country and the people are in dire need of change because the last three years have yielded nothing but suffering to the masses.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the former PDP chairman in Sokoto state, Abubakar Shehu-Tambuwal, led about 10,000 supporters to decamp to the APC in Tambuwal local government area of the state.
Addressing a crowd of supporters on Sunday, August 12 in Tambuwal, Shehu-Tambuwal said they made the decision freely based on their concern to participate in politics that would facilitate good development.
Shehu-Tambuwal said they were convinced to join the party because of the viable policies and projects of the APC-led government, stressing that leadership and democracy should be about enhancing infrastructure and ensuring development for the people.
