WATCH: Zimbabwe to build space satellite

Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube says Zimbabwe is planning to build a space satellite.

Ncube revealed the information during the 2020 budget presentation on Thursday.

Launching a single satellite into space can cost anywhere between $10 million and $400 million, depending on the vehicle used.

Commenting on the matter, Political Analyst Kelvin Mazhandu said the government must prioritise important issues and not to dream about irrelevant things.

"This government is presenting shocking ideas that are strange to the country. Mthuli is now telling us that he wants to build a space satellite when the doctors are paid 100 dollars and the teachers are hungry? This raises suspicion on what is the agenda of this satellite.

"The notorious government of Mnangagwa may be planning to award one of their companies a tender to build this thing. We need clarity on all these opaque and strange ideas that they are proposing."
