FULL TEXT: Bulawayo 96 hour water shedding schedule

The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public of the review of the current 72 hour weekly water shedding programme to 96 hour weekly programme with effect from Monday, 25 November 2019.

The programme is being reviewed in a bid to stabilize the reservoirs and prevent them from depleting further. It is further being implemented in a bid to raise the raw water reservoir level to a comfortable buffer level of 5.5m.

The current level of 0.76m (14% full) is not safe for the City's high-water demand being experienced.

The City continues to face the following challenges in connection with the water supply situation; limited raw water pumping due to old KSB pumps which are constantly breaking down.

Growing City demand now averaging 155 ML/day against the plant available capacity of 110ML/day.

The inevitable decommissioning of Umzingwane dam, which is currently at 4.85%. It will be decommissioned when the level reaches 4%, which is in less than a week from the 18th of November 2019.
