Councillor found with stolen copper cables

MOVEMENT for Democratic Change (MDC) ‘s councillor for Chipinge rural's Ward 2, Agrippah Mayanga has been arrested by the Chipinge Criminal Investigation Department after he was found in possession of large quantities of stolen TelOne Copper cables.

Police suspect that the accused has a hand in several reported cases of stolen telephone cables in the district.

According to police records, the accused is also being implicated in a syndicate that reportedly sells copper cables in neighbouring South Africa.

Mayanga who is in police custody will appear before the Chipinge Magistrate courts this Thursday for initial hearings.
