Mnangagwa equates corruption to cancer

The New Dispensation is on a vigorous drive to eliminate all forms of corruption from all sectors of society as they are a cancer that impedes meaningful development to take place, Harare Post can report.

"Meanwhile, the scourge of corruption impedes and robs our continent of meaningful development and the achievement of an improved standard of life of our people", said the President.

His Excellency informed the delegates that his administration has put in place robust mechanisms to fight the scourge of corruption.

"My Government has thus, prioritized the elimination of this cancer (corruption). To date, my administration has strengthened institutions mandated to lead the fight against corruption", the President said.

A political analyst attending the forum in Victoria Falls, who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, said the President has shown great commitment in fighting corruption by mentioning its effects at an International platform such as the ARFSD.

The New Dispensation has rolled up sleeves in their fight against corruption and several institutions have been put in place and others have been revamped to equip them to thoroughly fight against corruption.

Institutions such as Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) as well as Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU),which is housed in the office of the President were established to collaborate with the Zimbabwe Republic Police and National Prosecuting Authority in fighting graft in the graft.

Under the New Dispensation's fight against graft, high profile officials such as former Ministers Ignatius Chombo, David Parirenyatwa, Prisca Mupfumira and estranged wife of Vice President General (Rtd) Constantino Chiwenga were arraigned before the courts to answer corruption charges.
