Mliswa demands ministerial statement on stadiums

Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has demanded a ministerial statement to be issued in connection with the condemnation of country's stadiums by CAF.

"On a point of order Mr. Speaker Sir, I think it is a very important question.  It is really borne out of the fact that Zimbabwe stadiums were disqualified by CAF, so I think it is important that the responsible Minister who is well versed answers to that. I think a Ministerial Statement is critical so that we interrogate more as to why the stadiums are under the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works yet the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation itself which runs sport has no stadiums under it.  So, I think it is quite an exhausting one which requires us to interrogate the Minister further on this," he said.

Speaker of the house Jacob Mudenda said Mliswa's observation will cut out supplementary questions because the fact that they had our national stadium disqualified by CAF is a serious matter.

"So we will want a Ministerial Statement to address the issue jointly with the Hon. Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation so that they can explain to the House about this embarrassment," he said.
