Chamisa appoints 0 from Matebeleland?

Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition MDC Alliance has made several appointments this Thursday with Dr Felix Magalela Mafa-Sibanda as the only notable person with questionable Matebeleland roots. There are rumblings within the MDC circles on the neglection of Matebeleland people in Chamisa's latest appointments.

Magalela Mafa Sibanda who was born February 5, 1951 in Fort Rixon, Insiza, Matebeleland South was the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) candidate for Mashonaland Central constituency in Harare in the 1980 elections.

In 1985, he stood for ZAPU as a Glen View Candidate.

Chamisa and his party has underplayed the issues of tribalism in the province and has failed to address one of the key values of democracy which is equality.

One analyst said, “The MDC has failed to uphold the basic principles of democracy; we had expected it to be better than Zanu-PF in showing how things should be done."

Another analyst said a history of maginalisation continues to haunt the province.

"It has to do with history and the context of marginalisation and exclusion.

"The MDC needs to address the tribal issue; it is a thorny historical issue which they should be conscious of. I must say of late they seem to be containing the situation."

One MDC Alliance leader said, "Surely he(Chamisa)  cannot tell us that Shiriyendenga is from Matebeleland."

"He is just showing people from Matebeleland that they are useless in the MDC structures which is why he fired Daniel Molokela under the pretext that he has a constituency that he is running."

Below is the notice which announced the appointments.
