Citizen arrest for Covid-19 escapees

One of the four ladies who fled from Vuti quarantine centre last week went through citizen arrest in Sanyati on Monday. She is among four women who fled from Vuti quarantine centre in Hurungwe covering incoming residents through Chirundu border post.

Posting on his Twitter microblog information permanent secretary Nick Mangwana said the suspect had been "arrested."

Mangwana said, "One of the four ladies who fled from Vuti quarantine centre has been put in quarantine at a safe house in Sanyati as the community waits for the Zimbabwe Republic Police"

According to Covid regulations returnees are supposed to spend at least 14 days in any quarantine centre as they undergo testing before they get into communities. This is aimed at keeping low Covid infections that have since risen in the last three days.
